Last October, Student Council representatives participated in Lincoln’s annual Harvest Festival. Members supported PTA by playing the parts of ghouls and goblins in Mr. Cervante’s popular Haunted House. The Council also manned a sales booth of our very own, Monster Popcorn Hands.
In the month of December, Student Council held a Holiday Candy Grams fundraiser to foster holiday spirit at school and earn money to support our activities. In addition, Council members played a vital role in the Holiday Program, acting as emcees and runners for the classrooms. Students also had a very special opportunity to build community relationships and understanding by visiting Paramount Convalescent Hospital on December 11. Students spent time with the residents and brought them holiday cheer by singing Christmas carols and presenting each with a hand-decorated Christmas gram and fresh carnation. Residents who were able clapped and sang along. It was a heart-warming and memorable experience for our young students!
In February, Student Council held our final fundraiser for the year and sold Valentine’s Day Candy Grams. Through fundraisers, members practice goal setting, money management, people skills, and marketing. Fundraisers have truly been an educational and fulfilling experience for the students! On February 19, Student Council members also helped kick-off our school’s colorful and celebratory Lincoln P.R.I.D.E. Day! PTA parents as well as Superintendent of PUSD, Mr. Mendez, honored us with their presence, and the day was capped by a fun-filled assembly by the Balloon Story Tellers.
In addition to these functions, Student Council members participate in the monthly Monday Morning Assembly, where they lead the school in the Pledge of Allegiance, the Star Spangled Banner, and the Lincoln School Song. Upcoming Student Council activities will include Dr. Seuss Read Day (March 5), Spring Spirit Week (March 9-13), and “Random Acts of Kindness” Day (sometime in May).
Lincoln Student Council wishes to thank everyone for your support of our activities!
